Girls Trip In Miami

A few weeks ago, I was in Miami for a bachelorette weekend celebrating a very special bride to be. We stayed at the Freehand hostel in Miami Beach—which I wouldn’t recommend for an accommodation, unless your stopping by The Broken Shaker for a cocktail and a bite to eat, in which case it’s a vibe. I flew in late on Thursday night and met my friends there after they’d been to Nikki Beach for dinner and had drinks at Bodega. Leaving both with high ratings.

Miami Beach

Mimoas and chicken in waffles at Yardbird was likely the best decision of the trip. Everyone at the table ordered something different and no one was disappointed. We spent some time walking around this area and saw some other things we might have done, but being in South Beach or Miami Beach during spring break is simply chaotic. We made the right call renting a boat for the day that took us around Star Island and to a sand bar. Our captains gave us full power over the music, took hundreds of pictures, and swam drinks out to us in the water—that’s what we like to call full service.

Other things/places we considering going to in South Beach: The Clevelander, Drag Show at Palace

Little Havana

After hitting the beach for a few hours on Friday morning, we went out to grab lunch at Sangwuich—a small sandwich shop with traditional Cuban sandwiches and coffee. Then we walked down the Walk of Stars to get ice cream at Azucar. This ice cream shop has unique flavors from local ingredients, that are developed from inspiration for Cuban culture. We sampled a few and there was no scarcity in richness of flavors. So you just can’t go wrong.

Wynwood

If I ever find myself back in Miami, I’d love to spend more time walking the streets of Wynwood. My friends and I bought tickets to the Wynwood Walls one night—an outdoor installment of murals and extravagant art that doubled for great photo ops. Then we had dinner at 1-800-Lucky, an Asian fusion inspired food hall that transitions into nightlife with a full bar and DJ on the weekends.

Other places we considering going to in Wynwood: The Wharf, The Taco Stand and Wood Tavern

Brickell

We went out one night to Black Rabbit, which is a cool place because there is the main bar with music playing, and then another room with a DJ. It might just be Miami’s m.o., but I feel like I was just transported immediately back to college with the songs that were mixed into the DJ sets we heard all weekend. If you told me six years ago, that I’d still be hearing those songs in the club, I would have never believed you, but I’m also not mad about it.
